Hair Restoration with PRP Injections
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for the scalp is a procedure where a patient's own blood is processed to concentrate platelets and then injected into the scalp to potentially stimulate hair growth. It's a non-surgical option gaining traction as a potential treatment for hair loss, particularly androgenetic alopecia.
How it works:
1. Blood Draw:
A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, similar to a standard blood test.
2. Centrifugation:
The blood is placed in a centrifuge, which spins it at high speed to separate the blood components.
3. Platelet Concentration:
The platelets, which contain growth factors, are concentrated in the resulting plasma.
4. Injection:
The PRP is injected into the scalp in areas experiencing hair thinning or loss.

Potential benefits:
Increased hair thickness and density: PRP may help to thicken hair shafts and increase the number of hairs in the growth phase.
Reduced hair shedding:
Some individuals may experience less hair shedding after PRP treatment.
Improved scalp health: PRP may promote a healthier scalp environment for hair growth.
Non-surgical and relatively safe: PRP is an autologous treatment, meaning it uses the patient's own blood, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions.
Important Considerations:
Individual results vary the effectiveness of PRP for hair loss can differ from person to person.
Maintenance treatments:
PRP results are not permanent, and maintenance treatments are typically recommended to sustain hair
regrowth.

Not a cure for all hair loss:
PRP may be more effective for certain types of hair loss, such as androgenetic alopecia, than others.
Potential side effects:
Common side effects include temporary pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site.
